Nathalia Boarding Kennels & Cattery seek a purple supernova to become a Team Leader within a 16-person team.
Team Leaders at NBKC are happy to discover every dirty task, look for quirks in our guests, be brilliant with customers, and enjoy working harmoniously with our other team leaders (3).
This is a demanding job. You are on your feet all day (10,000 to 15,000 steps), lifting heavy things (water troughs), working in all types of weather, handling strong animals and delicate pets and checking off tasks in our online system.
It is a rewarding role. No two days are the same; the brain continually ticks over, planning and plotting the daily tasks. Suffice it to say, you will never be bored!
Traits
- Team Leaders:
- Lead by example and are level-headed.
- Demonstrate a mature approach to the role – showing respect to customers, veterinarians, suppliers, tradespeople and team members.
- Handle mundane tasks with enthusiasm.
- Thrive on customer service as guests arrive and depart.
- React calmly in high adrenalin moments.
- Jump into reception when required. (Reception is only a tiny part of the role).
- Can handle drills, hammers, shovels, wire cutters, mowers, and pressure washers.
- Address our customers’ quirks with friendliness and ease.
- Manage our four-legged guests with love and respect.
- Enjoy logistics, as the daily kennel and yard planning is like a giant, wriggling, panting puzzle board!
- Able to write reports (for new dogs).
- Enjoy challenges. Daily.
A manual driver’s licence would be a bonus for transport logistics (a small part of the role).
While qualifications are OK, we don’t mind training the right person.

The Plan
The plan is to become a calm and respected Team Leader (aka supernova) with help and encouragement from the owners and work colleagues. Of course, we will train you in all facets of our fantastic business so that you can ease into the Team Leader role.
The role will be from Tuesday to Saturday (5 days per week), although we can consider other work-day combinations. However, our weekends are busy, so applicants must be prepared to work on Saturday (or Sunday).
Award Wage to commence with (Miscellaneous Award MA000104) but negotiable thereafter (for the perfect supernova). A three-month trial will allow us (and you) to decide if you are the Nova we seek.
We prefer a Nova ready for a long stint at NBKC, as getting to know our guests takes a long time. Therefore, this position does not suit a gap-year seeker. However, it might appeal to someone considering purchasing a boarding kennel business.
