Owner/Courier Driver/Night Manager – Madeleine Keil
Madeleine currently has two dogs, kelpie x poodle Josie and rescue poodle Ben who bring her constant joy.
Madeleine has over 20 years experience working with and caring for animals; she worked in triage for a very busy inner city animal emergency hospital, created and oversaw the management of Nathalia Kennels from 2000 to 2016, and established a very successful not-for-profit animal re-homing service during this time.
The successful growth of the Kennel’s is entirely due to Maddy’s knowledge, expertise, passion and experience with animals – and for having the knack to choose great employees who complement the services on offer.
Madeleine is currently responsible for our courier service.
Manager – Vanessa Scadden
Vanessa has two gorgeous re-homed dogs, Golden Retriever Alfie and pocket-rocket Tibetan Terrier-cross Parker.
Vanessa started her life at the Kennels via work experience and has worked at the Kennels, on and off, since 2005. Vanessa excels in customer service and is always smiling, she is our ‘animal whisperer’ and establishes an instant rapport with guests (four and two legged) and can rattle off who the animals play with and what they have been up to during the day.
Vanessa updates Instagram and our Facebook page frequently, to keep owner’s in the loop and provide interesting and factual posts – along with some fantastic photographs.
Vanessa and her family began leasing the Kennels from Maddy in October 2016 – and are looking forward to making some upgrades in the future (new Kennels and Cattery).
Co-Manager – Jacinda Barnes
Jacinda has two cats – Delta and Wookie, and two adored dogs, black Labrador Indie and rescued whippet x Staffy Moira. Adopted golden Labrador Sophie passed away in September 2016 – always a heart-wrenching time losing a beloved family member.
Jacinda was the proprietor and Manager of Nathalia Boarding Kennels and Cattery from 2011 until September 2016. Jacinda possesses an amazing ability to assess our boarder’s unique personalities and pair them with appropriate playmates.
Jacinda started as a work experience student in 2005, progressing to a school based apprentice while doing Animal Studies during her VCAL year. Jacinda then went on to complete a traineeship in Companion Animal Studies via Wangaratta TAFE as well as a grooming course through Box Hill TAFE. Jacinda was awarded the regional apprentice of the year in 2006 and won the regional Powercor Moira Shire Business Excellence Award for customer service in 2015.

Our assistant staff members are incredible!
They all have one thing in common – they LOVE animals and LOVE working at Nathalia Boarding Kennels. Between them, they have over 25 years experience and you will see at least one of them here, in their purple shirt, every day of the week.
Our assistant staff have a range of different roles and responsibilities and perform any task, great or small, to ensure the effective, friendly and efficient running of our facilities.
Kate, Helena, Jemma – Clancy & Jake
We have our University and Senior Secondary College students who step into the fray if required during busy school breaks.
Every business needs a Factotum – an amazing worker ‘who does everything’. Cedric is Nathalia Boarding Kennels and Cattery’s biggest fan and will spend hours espousing our virtues and working behind the scenes to help with all sorts of chores. We love our Cedric with his booming voice and passionate approach to life.
